McCharacters Music Cafe & Sports Bar PERMANENTLY CLOSED

Don't want to sound like a downer here as many seem to enjoy this restaurant, but I really wasn't that impressed! Service was very slow and I had to keep flagging the server down for everything. Food to forever to arrive! I had bangers and mash which had a strange texture and very gooey and over salty gravy. Mash didn't taste like it was fresh potatoes! My friend's burger and bun were dry and he thought it lacked taste but he did like the fries. I had higher hopes based on reviews but was very disappointed.

Just moved to the area and have eaten here several time always great. They have a large menu and everything we have tried has been great. Cant wait to go again. Thanks.

THANK YOU McCHARATCERS FOR MAKING MY BIRTHDAY PARTY SUCH A SUCCESS!!! In August I had my 30th birthday and new I was going to have a party with 60+ people. The only problem was finding an establishment that had everything I needed/wanted. I did lots of searching and calling around through out Palm Coast and St. Augustine. I have visited McCharacters a few times before and new that the "Back Stage" part would be perfect. It is a nice big open room with a bar there were video games for the kids, pool tables,darts for the guys, and a dance floor for the ladies. I knew it was a great space for my 30th birthday party. I called McCharacters made contact with the owner (Kerry) she made an appointment with me to see what it was I wanted/needed. We went over menu items,prices, and drinks. The owner(Kerry) quoted me a price for everything I wanted. The entire "back stage" space for 4 hours, bartenders, waitress staff and a few more things I wanted. The price she quoted me was by far the best!!! I couldn't turn that offer down. On my menu I choose to do it buffet style(which they supplied) on my menu I had thier CHICKEN ALFREDO (which was delicious totally my favorite) mini burgers, chips,salsa,queso dip,salad with two different dressings, penne with red sauce and meatballs ,and fountain drinks for the kids. MY GUESTS WERE RAVING ABOUT THE FOOD DAYS LATER. They let me come in early and decorate, they boxed up left over food, the staff was very friendly and tentative, the owner (Kerry) was there to make sure everything ran smoothly. McCharacters accommodated all my needs and than some. I had a great birthday and my party was such a success. I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU AGAIN TO McCHARACTERS!!!!

McCharacters has a fun neighborhood bar type of atmosphere to it that also does some good food. We have visited a few times and always order sandwiches or burgers which have all been very good. Service can be hit or miss at times and prices reasonable.

We tried it again and oh, my! Anyway, the Clam Chowder was wall paper paste consistency, the Gibson's was dried out and the Tina Turner Ahi was over done and past it's prime. The wings aren't so bad. Problem is, too may resident bar flies. It's not a family atmosphere.

We thought their menu looked good online and decided to give them a try. We were a little lost going in as there are no greeters and some woman drinking at the bar said we should just sit down. We sat near the window and after a while a server finally acknowledged us. After that the service was good. We ordered sandwiches which were a good size and we loved their sweet potato fries. Overall once we were getting service, we enjoyed McCharacters and will go back to try more.

Went for lunch Friday, service was first rate, no extra wait for anything. Server made sure appetizer was delivered before meal. I had the Les Paul chicken breast, done just right. Had Fergie's perogies for appetizer ., It was so good the we took an order home. Wife's fish and chips were good also and portion large enough. We'll be back. Don't let the service or quality down.

Husband and ate here for dinner last Friday. A couple of cold beers and some Irish fare went down well. We loved our food and only complaint was lack of HP Sauce. No Irish restaurant should be without HP Sauce LOL

I love McCharacters! Every time my boyfriend and I go in there, we have a great time. The atmosphere is awesome with all of the music and friendly staff. The food is great, and their corned beef and cabbage is amazing!! I am Irish, and I know what good corned beef and cabbage is, and it's sooo good there! I want to also thank McCharacters for being an amazing sponsor for us and our softball team. I got the invite to play for team McCharacters this fall, and it is soooo much fun. McCharacters treats us very well, and we thank them so much for being our sponsor!!!

McCharacters is the best for dining, entertainment, family fun, watching your Big Game, and so much more! Every time I go there I am never disappointed!

Sorry, but I wasn't too impressed with my visit. Upon entering we were not greeted and after standing a while and two staff members passing us without acknowledgment, we just went and found our own booth. I had banners and mash and found the sausages to be OK, but the mash tasted like it was instant and the gravy was very dark, thick and salty, and the cabbage was lukewarm. There was also a lot of shouting from the kitchen and we could clearly hear the cook's phone call that we'd rather not of. Service throughout was slow and we even noticed our entrees sitting on the shelf long before we got our appetizer. I think McCharacters has a lot of potential but from this experience, they need to work a lot on timing and details. There was only 5 tables occupied and there didn't seem to be any kind of management present.

Saw the comments on here and thought we'd try McCharacters and was glad we did. I had the best burger I've had in Palm Coast and my wife loved her fish coconut sandwich thing! Beers were good and cold and everything went down really well. Cool atmosphere and staff efficient. Keep this up and we'll be back for sure. Our only complaint was not about the restaurant, but from the guys at the bar being loud with bad language. We didn't bring the kids and would of been upset if we had!

We stopped in on whim for lunch after paying our cable bill and glad we did. We always thought it was more of a bar but it is a very good restaurant too. Our sandwiches were great and we look forward to visiting for dinner one evening.

I have to admit I had written this restaurant off! I visited twice a year or so ago and and on both occasions the service was bad and the food barely acceptable. But from reading everything on here I decided to give it another try and I'm glad I did. Service had really improved and were much warmer. We ordered a few appetizers and sandwiches and everything was delicious and tasted fresh. McCharacters has a lot going on in there and I'm glad they've turned it around.

We saw their menu on here and it enticed us in. We visited with our teenage son and we had an awesome time and enjoyed our meals. The food was delicious and they have a nice selection suiting almost every taste. Husband and son played pool after next door. We will be back.

My wife and I frequently dine at McCharacters. The food and service are consistently good. We especially love the Jack Daniels burger and the Coconut Fish Sandwich.

Great place. Wonderful location, friendly, courteous and prompt service, great food. I live an hour away and will come back as often as possible.

I have to say McCharacters is the best - and I mean the best - Irish pub I've ever been to, and with a name like Donnelly, I know what I'm talking about. The food was great, the people were great, the atmosphere was great. McCharacters is just a good place to be. Thanks!!

I have made MANY Friends at McCharacters because of the karaoke, my familiarity/frequentness, AND especially because of McCharacters' friendly atmosphere.

FOOD RECOMMENDATIONS: the Fish&Chips are surprisingly better than (a Flag.Bch.Restaurant); their CB & Cabbage plate is very good; most things on the menu are excellent (I only say "most" b/c I haven't tried them all); their Jack Daniel's-Burger is Top Of The Line for my g/f's ordering. And i enjoy their appetizers: Pierogi's for a late-night snack OMG!!! DID I MENTION: they serve food UNTIL TWO A.M.!!! And SURPRISE Appetizer: my 28-ish son does NOT eat seafood, but i gave him a slice of my Ahi Tuna Appetizer and he stole my plate! -- I had to order another one for myself! It was seared to perfection, and it was sliced just-like i slice my-own-famous Flank Steak, and my son said: THIS doesn't taste "fishy," it tastes BETTER than your Flank Steak! (and THAT is MAJOR Compliment!) They have a Steak Dinner-- pay the $3 more for their Top of The Line one, as a waitress suggested to me: she was RIGHT; the other one was good, but what SHE recommended "melted in my mouth."

I have NO COMPLAINTS! Oh wait: I had a Complainer-friend who had a complaint (I thought it was a mis-understanding) yet McCharacters MADE IT RIGHT!

McCharacters is the by far the best restaurant/sports bar in town! The staff is so friendly and attentive and the food is YUMMY! Some of my favorites are the Ahi tuna Appetizer, the Jack Daniels chicken sandwich and their wings are to die for! I gotta say Palm Coast was boring until McCharacters opened up. They have great karaoke and dance music and the live bands ROCK! I have even seen Eddie Money show up to perform!! I always have a great time at McCharacters and what is so nice is the owners are always giving back to the community! I am glad to spend my money at such a well deserving first rate establishment! :)
