There are many coastal hole in the wall joints like this along A1A in Florida but Turtle Shack is my favorite. Great vibes and very casual with laid back... read more!
Review of Turtle Shack by Jordan from St. Augustine
Very casual locals place good for lunch or dinner. In or out seating but we prefer out. Avocado Egg Roll appetizer is a must and I really like their crab cakes or scallops. Husband always orders burgers. Service is mostly good and is on the pricey side.

It was not very good weather to be at the beach but we got a nice warm welcome here and enjoyed a wonderful lunch. My husband devoured his burger and said it was the best he's had in this area, and my crab cake on a croissant was delicious. The avocado egg rolls appetizers were incredible with just the right amount of crispiness. Our server was very sweet and made sure we had all we needed. Nice rustic shack type of atmosphere and very casual.

Go here for the burgers and the avocado egg rolls! No too impressed with anything else I've had on the menu, but their burgers are without doubt the best in town. Service is hit or miss and it's not the most comfortable of places. Good beers!

The Turtle Shack is where I go when I want a burger as theirs are by far the best around. However, service is not always very good and can be very slow especially at lunch. Very rustic inside with beachfront shack vibe.
Highlight of visit: The Shake Shack Burger or Bleu Ribbon Burger

Small place and not the most comfortable but it has a good vibe about it. Service can be bad some days and very good other days. But food is consistently good which is why we keep returning. I've had almost every seafood dish on the menu and all have been excellent with the crab cakes and Irish style fish and chips being my favorites. Burgers are so good too.

OMG has this place ever gone down hill. The food isn't bad but the service is horrendous. If you decide to go here be prepared to wait.. and I mean wait! Better bring some camping gear with you because that's about how awful the service is.

Very rustic inside and not too comfortable and feels a little deadpan but the food was excellent. My blackened grouper was cooked perfectly and was lovely and flakey, the clam chowder was very creamy and delicious. My husband chose a burger (The Shack) and raved about it. The server was good enough although could of been more friendly. It's small and casual but needs a lift to help the atmosphere with at least some beachy music. Worth it for the food though and I highly recommend you try.
Highlight of visit: The Grouper - perfect and huge.

This is my go to place for burgers as I've yet to find better in this area! It really is a shack with a basic wooden interior but the grub is great. In addition to burgers I really like their sandwiches too especially the crab cake sandwich but it's expensive! The A1A construction made it a challenge on my last visit but it's definite worth going to.
Highlight of visit: Can't go wrong with any of the burgers.

Small place across from the ocean with the best burgers around! I'm addicted to their Sweet Hot Burger which is to die for. Make sure you get with the sweet potato fries. Servers cool and on the ball. Amazing beer selection. Well worth the visit.
Highlight of visit: Sweet Hot Burger.

My wife and I used to patronize this place years ago but we stopped going because of the lousy service. Recently we decided to try it again. Fool me once shame on me...fool me twice... shame on you. You pay your money and take your chances... Just as bad as ever. Sorry, not my cup of tea!

We love this pace and visit often. It's a very small restaurant and has recently been remodeled after storm damage. My husband always gets their burgers as he says they're the best around and my favorites are the crab cakes and grouper sandwich. Service is super friendly and it has a nice beach shack type of atmosphere. Prices are a little high but the food quality makes it good value. Good beer selection too!
