We like the laid back beachy Caribb feel to the Lion and they have a great team of staff. Fish and chips and a cocktail or three here is like a mini escape. It kind of feels like one of those places you visit in port when on a cruise, especially when there's good live music playing (anything but country which kills the vibes).

The food and drinks are good, but you come here for the atmosphere and setting. It's easy to spend 2-3 hours around the tiki bar soaking up the vibes and some sun. Of all the restaurants and bars on the A1A, The Golden Lion is still our favorite.

The best place on the beach side for outdoor seating and atmosphere. Service is great and the food is good. Like everywhere it's getting expensive and portions are tighter. We like the cocktails and live music.

Cool oceanfront restaurant with seating up top with great views. The tropical salad and fish tacos were excellent and loved their cocktails. Our server could have checked on us more, we sat without drinks too often. Did enjoy the afternoon here though.

The Lion is our favorite place along the beach for its incredible views and fun vibes. Sitting out with a tropical drink and eating fish and chips on a beautiful day is one of life's little pleasures.

I love beach bars and the Golden Lion is among the best in Florida... the environment has it all including a rooftop deck, tiki bar, patio dining, etc! The staff are young energetic surfer types who take good care of you. The menu has all the beachy classics and they serve the best fish and chips around. This is our first stop whenever we're back in town and we have sent many friends here.

It seems like every time I come here there's some kind of construction going on! But it didn't ruin our experience and we had a great meal. Views from the top of the ocean and town are phenomenal and our server was very cool. The coconut shrimp and jerk wings are excellent and they make a great fish sandwich.

Review by Nico, Palm Coast 6/12/20255.0Food:Service:Atmosphere:
With a britt owner the fish and chips are Golden Lion's signature dish and are the best I've had in Florida. The raw bar is very good too with plenty of fresh shellfish - try the Seafood tower in you want to impress a date! They also have some fun beachy cocktails. The setting is spot on and fits in well with Flagler Beach's theme of dinner in flip flops and good music.

Best place on the beach for vibes with great service, cool drinks, and decent food. Their fish and chips are a must and they have a good raw bar. Seafood tacos are excellent as well. The Lion is Flagler beachside dining at its best!

It looks like they're back to normal with a full menu again. I had the usual fish and chips and husband had the fish tacos and both were excellent. Plus the cocktails were delicious. Our server was terrific and the views as awesome as ever.

It's not a great environment right now with construction work going on, the rooftop closed at the time, plastic sheets on the sides, and the kitchen in a trailer made it all feel like you're dining on a construction site, then again, I guess you are! The food was quite good but tasted like it was hurried. We did have an amazing server, though, who made our day. I'll wait until the upgrades are complete before I return, and excited to see how it turns out.

You really need good weather to fully appreciate the Golden Lion! It's mostly an outdoor restaurant and you can feel the wind more on the upper deck, plus the Lion experience makes the food taste so much better. But it was still good and they're operating out of a temporary kitchen while they renoavte. Our server was great and drinks were good. I'll be back

They have a lot of construction going on but remain open with a limited menu and a temporary kitchen. The food was good but didn't quite have the taste it had before. It's also served on disposable plates. Our server was great but the upper deck was closed when we were there which was disappointing.

Review by Displeased Customer, Port Orange, FL 10/29/20242.0Food:Service:Atmosphere:
Calamari was possibly the worst I’ve ever had. Menu was very limited everything is fried. Sides were only 2 options, either French fries or coleslaw. Beer was cold and server was pleasant but $65 for lunch was not worth the visit.

The Golden Lion is always a top choice for us when on a night out. Their food is quite good but we like its vibes and always have a great time. If you want better food their sister restaurant Next Door has some amazing choices.

The Golden Lion in Flagler Beach offers a relaxed oceanfront dining experience with memorable views from its rooftop deck and tiki bar. Known for its fish and chips, widely regarded as some of the best in Florida, the menu also features seafood tacos, coconut shrimp, jerk wings, and a well-stocked raw bar. Patrons enjoy the lively atmosphere complemented by live music and refreshing beach-inspired cocktails. Service is friendly and energetic, though it can occasionally be slow during busy times. Portions have become more modest, and prices are on the upscale side, but guests often linger for hours soaking in the sun and scenery. The Golden Lion remains a longstanding local fixture cherished for its classic beachside vibes and quality seafood offerings.
