Review of Funky Pelican by Janice from Palm Coast
We passed this restaurant several times but thought it was closed initially, so we dropped in for breakfast and thought it was a good option. Inside is pleasant enough but the views are what makes it. Unfortunately, the weather didn't allow us to sit outside as that looked like a great dining spot. Our server appeared to have not fully awakened yet and was very direct. I had biscuits and gravy, which is one of my favorite breakfasts. It was OK but nothing outstanding and neither the biscuits or the gravy appeared to be homemade. My wife chose an omelet that was filled with mushrooms, spinach, peppers, and tomatoes, then topped with a pesto sauce which she thought was very tasty. The homefries were on the soggy side and salty. I believe the setting is what makes this restaurant and had they made the effort to make the gravy and biscuits from scratch and the server shown more enthusiasm, our experience would have been greatly improved.

Ordered my usual Shrimp n Grits which is a great dish with nicely blackened shrimp and finished with a great cajun sauce. Service was not as good as normal as our server seemed like her head was in another town, and I'm sure the portion was a lot smaller. Still has a good atmosphere even with all the storm damage around.

I feel sorry for this restaurant as it's right in the middle of a construction zone right now, and the pier is now closed and about to be demolished, but they make the best of the situation here and it's almost business as usual there. We sat inside for the first time and although it's not as good as being out on the deck, it is still nice in there and we had good views. Our server was fantastic and our food was delicious. I had their breakfast tacos which were something different and went down well, and my wife liked her pest omelet. Only complaint I had was that the coffee didn't taste too great, but everything else is two thumbs up from me.

We sat outside and had excellent service from our waitress. Couldn't get one of the drinks I wanted on the menu but they offered the Orange Creamsicle instead and it was like a memory of what I had when I was a kid only now with alcohol... couldn't drink more than one though as it was sweet. Their Funky Flatbread starter was really good and their Feta and Strawberry Salad is unique and very delicious. The pier is closed from hurricane damage but the views are still open and are amazing.

Fun place to hang out and get funked up!! The food is about average but the drinks are excellent and they have the best spot in Flagler for views... so close to the ocean you can taste the salt air with your cocktail. Service is better on some days than others but overall a fun experience.

The food and drinks never disappoint and you have to love the views... plenty to see and fun to people watch. The bacon shrimp with pineapple bbq sauce is a great appetizer and I like their Caribbean combo with mahi mahi, and they know how to make an excellent margarita. Try to get on the back patio for the best experience.

Can't beat the views anywhere else in Flagler and our favorite spot for Sunday breakfast. Their Crabcake Benedict is awesome and my wife loves the Pesto Omelet. And if you haven't already tried one, get an Orange Creamsicle cocktail, hard to drink just one!

Sat outside and enjoyed the view. Service was slow but nice enough. As a vegetarian they had very little to choose from and ended up ordering the Strawberry and Feta Salad which was yummy and came with candied pecans and an excellent raspberry vinaigrette. Best place for views and and the sounds of the ocean made even more enjoyable.

We were visiting Flagler Beach for the first time and decided to stop in the Funky Pelican for a few drinks. We happened to luck out with 2 exceptional bar tenders, Crystal and Danielle. They were both very welcoming and attentive; a true asset to this establishment. Highly recommend Funky Pelican and will stop back when we’re in the area in the future.
Highlight of visit: Our bartenders, Crystal and Danielle

Best breakfast and views at the beach!! Vibe awesome and staff cool and friendly. Shrimp & Grits are killer and better half loves the Breakfast Flatbread. Their version of Bloody Marys are amazing with shrimp, cheese and Slim Jims... sounds weird but it works very well. Wish I could have this every day!

They have the best viewing deck in Flagler Beach which is large with unrestricted views. Fun place to eat and drink and watch the beach goers. Many delicious items on the menu but I favor the Caribbean Combo with Mahi Mahi. Drinks are also awesome and I recommend the Funked Up Mary which is a bit pricey but is quite a slow drink. Service can be lacking sometimes and funny enough usually worse during slower times.

Love the food and location but the service needs some work. Been here many times and yet to experience good service. Either long waits to get seen or attended to, drinks and food take forever, server in a pissy mood or wants to talk politics more than take our order, one we asked to speak with a manager and I'm convinced she just got a friend to come over and talk to us!!! BUT the food is good and we like sitting outside here with the views. This is not like Finns or Golden Lion where you're hundreds of feet away and across the street from the beach, here' you're right on it, so you can really smell and taste that sea air! Makes everything so much better.

Our server was over opinionated and negative really ruined the meal, which was a shame because the food and setting were both top notch. She made us feel uneasy and we would go again but will request another server if we got her again.

All the other restaurants along the A1A in FB claim to be beachfront but this the only one that truly is!! The location is fantastic and you get the best views here without sitting on a tight roof. Food is amazing and we come for lunch most weekends. Service can sometimes be not so good but no complaints on anything else.

Had to wait for a table but was well worth it for the amazing view and delicious food. Our party of 5 all raved about their breakfasts and the Mimosas and Funked Up Mary's were so good. My Crab Cake Benedict was excellent our server was really on the ball. Could not find fault in our experience here and can't wait to return.

Incredible ocean views and love sitting outside at dusk. Food is delicious and drinks are awesome. The Poke Salmon Tower is amazing and the Caribbean Combo is soooooooo good. Really good mixed drinks and make sure you try their Orange Creamsicle specialty. One of Flagler's best restaurants hands down!

Always have a good time here with its fun atmosphere and great views. Nice to watch surfers and beach goers as you dine. The Shrimp and Grits and the Jambalaya are awesome and their cocktails can be really over the top but all have tasted good. We've never had a bad meal or service here and we visit often.
