Review of Cajun Beach Boil and Sushi by Preston from Buffalo, NY
Wow. Shock and awe... dammit. We shouldn't have eaten here. We went with friends and we were all VERY disappointed. The food that was served was cold, overcooked and skimpy for the price. Appetizer: 2 crab cakes that were about the size of silver dollars in thickness and size were $20. That was the appetizer... that we got 1/2 way through our main meal...?!? The gumbo was cold. The tiny empty crawfish claw that was in the gumbo was almost laughable. The 3 shrimp were MUSHY. It was evidently boiled to death instead of simmered. It also had a piece of snow crab in the gumbo that I guess was a bonus? 1 in our party got french fries that were so cold they were inedible. She did get a fresher order of fries brought out by the manager in grand fashion, but then forgot to get a refill on 2 drinks that she promised.
All in all a pretty pathetic attempt at serving a palatable meal. $180 for 4 with NO alcohol... I know you can do much better in Flagler County!
The wife wrote a pretty scathing review on Facebook which was deleted, and she was then blocked from seeing their Facebook page. No bad reviews allowed.... and the reason would be that there is hardly anything but bad to report.

This restaurant needs to decide if it wants to be cajun or sushi. Sushi was ok. The rest of the menu was horrible. It took an hour and a half to get the food.

We went this past weekend and it seems like they're still working things out. Food wise they seem to have an identity problem and can't decide what type of restaurant this is. They looked like they specialize in sushi so we tried that and it was not good, with strange rice flavor and texture. The crabcake appetizer needed cooking longer and lacked seasoning, but the sauce was good. Ordered cocktails and was told they were out of something so had to choose another. Server was very aloof and they allow smoking outside which really lowers the tone of the place. Way too expensive for this quality of food and atmosphere.

I have been hearing many mixed reviews about this new restaurant and after finally getting to try it, that's what my experience here was like with some ups and downs. My husband just had a classic burger which was very dry and he needed to douse it in sauce to get it down, and the upgraded herb fries were not good with barely a skimpy teaspoon of parmesan on top. Our daughter had the shrimp scampi which she said had good flavor but again very dry and they were very light on the shrimp like they were a garnish more than a feature of the dish. However, the boudin sausage balls appetizer are very good and we all really enjoyed those, and my gumbo was excellent and very tasty. The cocktails were another let down and we all thought they were mocktails as they tasted so weak.
Overall, I feel like they are trying to be too many things and should just focus on what they do best, which seems to be the Cajun food. The chef definitely appears to know this cuisine but the other items are just not very impressive. .. how can you make a gumbo that is so delicious but can't make a good burger or simple pasta dish? I'm hoping they find their groove as the staff are wonderful and they have worked so hard on creating such a nice beachfront spot. I wish them well.

We had the Gumbo and were dissapointed. For $26 we recieved a smallish bowl of mostly gravy and rice. Tthere were a few shrimp and a few sausages but asn't nearly enough of anything for the price. On the plus side the people were nice and the service wasn't bad.

Food was good but not the best. Service was all over the place and everyone was definitely drunk or had been drinking more than they should while working. I'm glad we tried it but won't probably go back. The menu was pricey for the food and the drinks were way over priced and I swear there was not a drop of alcohol in them for $12 I should of been tasting something besides ice and strawberries.

Beautiful view. Unsatisfactory food. Trying to be kind but it is tough. The waitress was very nice and I did not punish her for the food which was the worst I have every had on Flagler Beach, which is saying a lot. Crab cakes tasted like bread crumbs without crab meat inside. A burger could not be cut with a fork. Chicken fingers were blah. A wedge salad was lousy and wasn’t a wedge salad at all. One positive were the fries. They were good. I might return if people I know find it improved. The facility has great potential obviously. Hire a cook and put together a basic menu. Stop trying to be the place with an unusual menu. It doesn’t fly. Let the view and atmosphere do the work. Wish them the best of luck.

We absolutely loved our first visit. We were just a party of two so the covered cabana seats were not available unless you have a party of 5 or more. We sat at a bar height table with an umbrella looking at the ocean. The weather was perfect on Saturday before Labor Day. We ordered the Shrimp boil. It came out very fast and was delicious. You will have to peel your own shrimp. We would have loved more mushrooms as we only got three. The portion of shrimp was generous and very tasty. We had two drinks each and got a chopped salad to share and our meal was right at $100 which included a 20% tip.
Highlight of visit: Kristen was our waitress and she was attentive throughout our time there.

Awesome transformations of the property and they definitely made the most of the place. Our server was a darling and took great care of us. I had the Po Boy Sandwich which was delicious and had a wonderful sauce. My husband had the Bacon Burger and said it was just a 'burger' and nothing too impressive. When we have more time would like to try one of the boils. Views and setting make everything taste better.

I think they're starting to find their groove and had a much better visit than the first time. Service was friendly but still a little slow, and of course the setting is spectacular. As for the food, the Boudin Balls and Korean Wings were good and their Cajun Shrimp Boil was outstanding. Cocktails were good but would like to see more craft style offered. Overall a good time here and happy to see them doing better.

The view is of course nice, it's located on the beach. The tables in front are to short for the chairs, the table is basically on your knees. We ended up at a picnic table, which was nice, however the corn hole game is located right in front of the tables so you have to watch that while eating and trying to enjoy the beach view. Food was good but they charge $10 for a side order of fries to go with our over priced fried shrimp. AND they came out after our food AND super small order - not crispy. The shrimp came with a sauce I didn't care for so they charged $2 for a very small cocktail sauce. Owner or Manger was out and about, she was very unfriendly.

Great food, large portions, fun atmosphere. Celebrated a friend's birthday with cocktails and entrees including Shrimp boil, fried green tomatoes, and hamburger. Everything was delicious. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal and our dining experience.
Highlight of visit: Shrimp boil was excellent.

This was terrible. Absolutely terrible. After seeing the photos they posted online we were excited to try, but those photos are LIES y'all. I've truly, never been served worse food. We thought wed get sick the next day. we were there for a weekend dinner night at a reasonable time and they were out of all the highly recommended dishes - and they dont even serve sushi! I know its a soft opening but cmon y'all! Nextdoor just did a soft opening and they had it together... the location has potential, it seemed like they wanted to make it a nicer feel, so on one side there are pretty cabanas and on the other is a bar where everyone is smoking. It's not good at all and makes you feel uncomfortable. If you want to be a dive bar thats fine just commit to that.
But y'all... the food. The sausage was gooey inside, the bread felt like it was microwaved, left out all day and then remicrowaved but still served cold. The fried shrimp was cold and all cornmeal. The drinks tasted chalky like they had aspirin in them and even after letting them know they still charged us. Everything is ridiculously overpriced. And honestly the staff was not prepared at all and clearly spread thin... our waitress apologized and said she needed to go in the back to help the kitchen. I felt so sorry for them. They must be so embarrassed. Based on this experience im not expecting them to stay open long.

They are still only on a soft opening so they only have a small menu selection right now, so I tried their Gumbo which was very good, but I would have liked it to be more spicy. The Margarita I had was delicious and I could have had a few more LOL Service is super nice and very professional, and I'm impressed with how they transformed this place into a beautiful beachfront spot. I can't wait for their full opening and menu and will be back for that for sure.

Visited this new beachfront restaurant last night. Knowing in advance that they were still in a soft opening mode. Upon arrival I accidentally bumped into a woman who upon apology introduced herself as Linda the owner! We laughed and joked and were promptly seated. She then explained that the sushi part of the marquis was not yet available. Ok, no problem! We decided to start with the Fried green tomatoes! My wife just loved them! I’ve never been a fan. My wife then ordered the Shrimp Boil served with potatoes, mushrooms and corn. Needless to say she is eating the leftovers for lunch as I’m writing this! I too am eating leftovers. A lightly panko breaded chicken Po Boy! It’s only leftover because the amount of fries was enough for two but I ate them all!! OINK! Certainly fresh cut not frozen potatoes!!! The whole meal was Yum! The staff was helpful and responsive! We will definitely return in hopes that the Sushi will be there soon!
