I finally got to try the famous Bantam Chef Fish Sandwich yesterday and was very impressed. It is big, loaded with crispy fried fish, and served on a large hamburger bun. I made it a basket meal with fries and slaw which were good. We ate at the tables on the side which was much better than in front of the counter area. Good value at around $14 for the sandwich, fries and slaw.

Heard that this was a great place to get a great fish sandwich. First thing first, this is a CASH ONLY establishment. Not necessarily a deal breaker. Got a single fish sandwich -- no sides -- for around $11. Honestly, disappointed. Yes it was huge, but for something that was fixed while there, it was not very hot and bland. If it wasn't for the tomato and a dab of tartar sauce, there would have been no flavor.

We biked over to here to try their famous fish sandwich and it didn't disappoint... the thing is big and loaded with fried fish. I admit the place is not very desirable and we rode to a nearby park to eat. It was a good sandwich for the money and the fries were great too.

The Bantam Chef's famous Fish Sandwich is a whale! The fish is piled so high you have to eat it sideways to get a bite. The staff are busy and get the orders out in good time, but the place is not the most desirable. Customers smoking and swearing make it not very friendly for families. Thye also make some other good sandwiches and their fries are awesome.

A hidden treazure for sure. Locals know where to go to get a good, hot, very tasty meal at a very reasonable price. They would rather put their $$ into the best quality food for their customers. Svc was greeted with a hello and smile. Didn't wait long for a scrumptious yummy meal. 5☆
Highlight of visit: Being a local, we have tried almost all menu items. We love the fried oysters and clams. I'm partial to the fried shrimp. We've always liked the fish meal. Can't go wrong with a dinner purchase. Must try the fish and shrimp dinner. I love it!😀5☆

A whole in the wall type place with a big line at the window so I thought it had to be good. I had the fish sandwich which is impressively large and it tasted pretty good, but I feel it a bit like a case of quantity over quality.

We were in Bunnell and my wife and I decided to try their famous fish sandwich. It's definitely big and filled with a lot of small pieces of fish (no idea what type of fish) and tasted quite strong which I didn't mind, but it was a little soggy, and I'd like the breading to be more crispy. But I did enjoy it. It's a good price but the ordering was a bit of a challenge as the line didn't seem to have much order to it, and we didn't like many of the other customers smoking. At least we can say we tried the Bantam Chef's famous fish sandwich now and can strike it off our culinary bucket list.

It feels like this place hasn't changed in forever and the fish sandwich is still really good and I actually like their fired oyster sandwich a lot too, but the prices have really gone up. Smokers at the tables outside so didn't like to eat there.

I come here often when craving a fish sandwich. There's is big and is usually a mix of fish inside, which sometimes taste great and occasionally kind of too 'fishy'. Today was on the too fishy side. Good fries and slaw though.

They said this place has the best fish sandwich and they weren't wrong. Big thick sandwich loaded with fried fish. Tasted great! Good price. Staff nice but the place is not so good. Outside only and I think I was the only that wasn't smoking. Removed a star for that! But I do really recommend the fish sandwich.

I come here for lunch often and I like their fish sandwich but find it too dry and often put a dressing on it when I get to the office. They also have good wings and burgers, an they do a great steak and cheese sandwich too. Service can be slow at times but usually friendly, and some paint could help here and there.

5 stars for the fish sandwich! You see a lot of content people here chowing down on this sandwich. It's takeaway or outside eating only and in addition to their fish items they also make a great steak and cheese or burger. Don't be put off by the exterior, it's really good food and I've met people here that have come from a long way to try it! Tell em Matty sent you!

Sometimes I just crave their Fish Sandwich, Fried Oysters, and French Fries. Nothing healthy there but it goes down so good especially with one of their big Pink Lemonades. Good for a quick lunch if it's not too busy.

Went to try the fish sandwich I'd heard so much about and although it was big and filled high with fish, it wasn't too great. The fish tasted like low quality river fish and was heavily breaded and very fried. This is definitely a case of quantity of qulaity. But it is relatively cheap and you get a big sandwich that's very filling, and their fries and slaw are good.

It looks like their fish sandwich is getting smaller on each visit, but it still tastes great and I always get with the onion rings which I love. Service is efficient but not always the friendliest and too much smoking around the tables for me to eat there.

Their fish sandwich is piled high with crispy fried fish and love their tater tots and coleslaw. The staff at the window are nice enough but always wish they had an inside restaurant. Prices for fish sandwiches getting high!

Biggest and best-tasting fish sandwich in Florida!! Good, old-fashioned, small-town, southern kind of place that has outdoor (where it belongs) dining only. It's like being at the outdoor cookouts you went to with your parents when you were a kid! Don't forget to order a large order of fried mushrooms to go with the sandwich. On the way to Daytona so it's not even out of the way for people traveling south on US1.

Bantam Chef in Bunnell is known for its famously large fish sandwich, generously loaded with crispy fried fish. Regular guests appreciate the sandwich's size and value, often pairing it with well-liked fries and slaw. While the fish can vary in flavor-from mild to strong, occasionally a bit greasy or soggy-the overall portion makes it satisfying for many. The staff typically serve orders promptly and with a friendly demeanor. The setting is modest and mostly outdoors, sometimes crowded with smokers, which may impact comfort for some diners. Prices are considered reasonable for the generous servings. Besides the fish sandwich, the fried oyster sandwich also receives positive mention. Bantam Chef offers a casual, no-frills experience focused on hearty Southern-style fare.
