When Chef's shanty first opened it was such a positive experience. Great burgers and fries and the soft ice cream alone was exquisite. As time went by, the soft chocolate ice cream machine broke. Went to order a burger and no they had no fries or diet soda. The burger was not worth eating. The regular ice cream had ice in it. How I wish the owner would create a menu and hours that are consistent, get the ice cream machine fixed and get us all back as customers. Focus on making the best hamburger around with all the trimmings, get that soft serve up and running, let us know when it happens and you'll have some very loyal customers.

Burgers are decent but nothing to write home about. Never tried the cupcakes but I've heard mixed reviews. Not sure if they still have them but the fish tacos they had when they first opened were great. Outside of that, typically service is not with a smile (in my experiences at least) and the service has been beyond slow when I've visited. The surrounding area is questionable at best - lots of junk around. The parking is completely inadequate on the weekends and for some reason there is a sidewalk placed in front of the parking area which I found very odd. On a busy day expect locals to yell at you if you park even close to it even if there's no other parking to be found. Seriously unclassy people around here and not the laid back kindness I experience in my home town of nearby Flagler Beach. Unless they figure out parking soon, I won't be back.

Salted Caramel is by far the best Ice Cream I've ever had. My experience there was wonderful. Gentlemen and lady at the window were very knowledgeable on the products they have in stock and extremely friendly. A little low on their food supply but, still enough to satisfy me and prompt me to come and write a comment. I will for sure be coming back and will encourage my friends to stop by as well.. Great job!

My husband and I moved to the Ocean Shore/ Palm Springs area on Oct. 1st 2012. We have tried every restaurant we could find in the area. We seen this particular place as we were leaving Bing's across the street for lunch, and decided to try Chef's Shanty Ice Creamery for dinner. We arrived about 7:50pm looked at menu decided on a hamburger and a corn dog both with fries. Had planned on eating there since the weather was nice.. But it was so dirty and cluttered. Which was no problem we live close so we will take home. I am standing at the front looking at all the ice cream flavors and I see this lady put our fries in the microwave, I decided to watch a little longer and believe it are not she cooked all of our food in the microwave. When it was time to get our order we ask for kept. mustard, salt, pepper and she had NONE!
In my personal opinion the lady working with long dark hair was more interested in showing off her cleavage, and closing up shop than serving us hot fresh food. I don't know about other people but I don't like paying 6.00$ for a microwaved corn dog that was just thrown in the garbage.
We plan on being in this area for a long time, but will never stop at this place again. And will warn anyone we meet of the cooking habits of this place.

This place is very dirty, I don't know how they stay open. I don't know why we thought to give this place a chance, anyway. Our burgers weren't just greasy - They were slimy!! And the babycake cupcake things tasted very stale. Service was bad, the girl in the window seemed to have a nasty attitude, and acted like a bored teenager. Usually I'd chalk it up to an off day, but when we sat down at the picnik tables we noticed that someone left a dirty diaper under it! I didn't know picnik tables that people eat off of could be used as a changing table!! That's so unsanitary, it makes me sick just thinking about it... I decided to let the girl at the window know that there was a soiled diaper in the eating area, she didn't even look surprised when I told her. And she had the nerve to tell me "It's not my job, if you don't like it, move it." ...Excuse me? Not your job? but I will be calling some people to see about making some changes or shutting the place down. Bottom line, Chef's Shanty is not safe to eat at!

Great food (crabcakes, burgers and yummy sweet potato fries!) and great ice cream (hard and soft serve). Also love the cupcakes. Very friendly service - perfect place to stop to eat and get some sweets.

Residing in the Hammocks is great, however when I first arrived here I realized there was nothing other than Publix's where you could grab a sandwich or a piece of chicken. When the gentleman who owns the Chef's Shanty took over the run down often undesirable snack shack, life in the Hammocks became more interesting. It offers the residents and travelers on A1A, a nice clean establishment, where you can get a very juicy burger along with either freedom or sweet potato fries or, a variety of hard and soft serve ice cream.at a very reasonable price. When you arrive at the Shanty you are greeted by a very cheerful and personable staff and on occasion by the owner if he is not at the grill creating a comforting culinary meal Just the other day I decided I was not going to cook and have a mess to clean and hopped on my bike and went to the Shack for lunch. I had a very juicy burger and soda, topped off with a creamy chocolate soft serve, all for $10.00. Beats traveling over the bridge and paying the toll along with consuming gas. Since the Shack has opened I have become a loyal patron. I wish the Shack success.

This new arrival is a welcome addition to the area. Lots of selections in both ice cream and sandwiches. Especially good are the shrimp burgers. Great ice cream choices and cupcakes, too. Friendly staff, pleasant setting. Very kid friendly, too.

The ice cream was excellent. My husband was very impressed with the soft service. However the service left much to be desired. The girls working were borderline rude, they seemed almost bothered by having to help the customers.

This is a great little place. Many things have been at this location but this one rocks. Very nice people and very good ice cream. Loved stopping here and walking across to the park. I highly recommend.
