Okay so this IS NOT fine dining but am not sure why it received such negative reviews. We visited twice in the past few weeks and would not have gone back if it were as bad as some of the previous reviews made it sound. First of all the fried chicken was wonderful and my wife is crazy for fried chicken. Service was pretty good and the waitress was pleasant. The first time we visited was for lunch so the atmosphere looked pretty good. Second time was in the evening and the fluorescent lighting left a LOT to be desired. If they turned off the fluorescent lights and put in some nicer lighting the atmosphere would definitely improve. On the evening we visited, fried chicken was the special and not only did you get 5 large pieces for around $10 but sides were included. Couldn't believe they could make any money charging so little for so much food. Also included with meals was nice warm corn bread. In addition to the fried chicken we ordered the chicken souvlaki on pita and had to take some of it home . Desserts looked great but we couldn't eat another bite...maybe next time. Oh, and the place was packed the night we visited so they must be doing something right.

Arrived and was greeted right away with a smile and seated. After 10 minutes went by of sitting and waiting for service I got up and walked out. The waitresses were too busy talking to each other! There are other places to spend my money.

Went for the first time on 3/27/15. Found the atmosphere to be very sullen, service was mediocre, like we were bothering them, had to ask for refills and a box for the leftovers. Also, had to sit across from a woman sitting in a booth and watch her take her foot out of her sandal and put it under her leg on the seat, the foot was black on the bottom so I feel sorry for the next person who sits in that booth as I saw then clean a booth and the seats were not wiped off. Wanted to try this for quite awhile and WOW what a terrible disappointment... will never return and will warn all who will listen not to go there as there are better places to eat in Flagler County!

Our family really likes this place, that says a lot as one of our sons is very picky! So much to choose from , service can be slow it has happened to us once out of the 4 times we have gone. Chicken is great, burgers are really good, the Cajun shrimp sausage appetizer is super good and is a meal in itself.

This place has the MOST AMAZING fried chicken I have ever tasted. It is cooked to order and it is worth the wait!!! The service may not be great, and the other items on the menu may not be show stoppers, but if you are looking for the BEST FRIED CHICKEN in the area...this is your place!

Unfriendly service, below average food. Cheeseburgers were frozen patties, dressed up and overcooked. Could have slapped a store-bought version in a pan at home and done as well. Fries good, coleslaw fair. It all took too long to arrive. The complete disinterest of server a real negative but from reading the reviews here, that's to be expected and perhaps overlooked if the food was worth it--not even close.

My husband and I are local residents and decided to try the Chicken Pantry for the first time. I ordered fried chicken, mashed potatoes, fried squash. He ordered fried shrimp, steamed broccoli and corn. The food looked good on the plate. The first bite of chicken shocked me with SALT, TOO MUCH Salt. The mashed potatoes and squash were full of salt. My husband had to drink two glasses of water to try to get rid of the salt on the shrimp. We told the waitress. No response. I wrote a note to the manager, who wouldn't take the time to talk with me. She did not read the note, crumpled it up and threw it in the trash. Needless to say we WILL NOT visit this the Chicken Salt Palace again.

Went for lunch with a friend, seated quickly and nice waitress... the sweet tea was good we both ordered the 3piece fried chicken with stuffing and mashed potatoes... the stuffing was OK and the potatoes were very bland... just boiled and mashed nothing on them. I had gravy placed on it but it helped to a degree. The chicken was good, just a tad salty but good. Will go back.

The food is the draw here. I like the chicken, fish, and the daily specials. Service at the new location is not any better than it was at the old location. They have great food items, but, I have found hair in things on two occasions, I have overheard the kitchen staff talking about queer bars, and the waitresses talking about their boyfriend's problems. Not something I want to here while out to dinner. I understand that chicken orders take longer, but the kitchen is very slow. I never go there unless I have the time sit and wait. I keep going back, but I would go there more often if some attention was paid to these issues that I have mentioned.

The fried chicken and country fried steak as well as most of their food is excellent. We have noticed a decline in the service recently. We have had to ask to be served twice, and the servers tend to forget they need to refill your drinks. They offer free "warm" cornbread according to the menu but, we have had to ask for that and it is very rarely warm. We love the food but if the service is bad on one more visit, we will not return.

Best fried chicken I've eaten on the east coast, went out of my normal and got the BBQ spare ribs and BBQ chicken, the ribs are melt in your mouth wonderful and come smothered in their own blended sauce...best ribs I've eaten from here to Nevada! A must try!! Side dishes and wait staff are a little under par but can look past that just to have these ribs again!

Went there for the first time. Not impressed. I don't like to decide ratings on first try but I was very disappointed. I ordered the poor boy fried chicken strip sandwich and much to my dismay it was processed chicken not real chicken strips. I questioned the waitress and she showed me a different sandwich with the real chicken for a dollar more. For a restaurant that boasts best fried chicken they should be ashamed to serve processed chicken. In my opinion, Publix has the best fried chicken and best chicken strip sandwich. Twice the size and tastier.

The fried chicken is great and cooked to order so expect a wait. Since moving to the new location a whole lot more folks have descended on them and now that they have the extra seating they could use a bigger place because folks are coming in droves for the food and great prices and they now have a decent location that doesn't feel like such a dive. I have to agree however that the potpie leaves a lot to be desired, it's bland with no sauce, simply loads of chicken and veggies under a nice crust, but needs a sauce. The wings are fantastic but are not served as an entree, but as an appetizer with a side salad is plenty for me. Some of the sides are great and some are lacking. The fried green tomatoes are sliced too thin for my liking and lose the taste except for the breading. The beans are tasty and seasoned well. We go here often, but try to avoid 'prime' time, i.e.,Friday evenings as the wait to be seated can be long.

In all fairness ... I love the fried green tomatoes, fried chicken, fried chicken livers and fried fish entrees served at this establishment. I would never suggest it to someone in a hurry, though ... as they say that their meals are prepared fresh and once seated and depending on what was ordered ... you can expect to wait an average of 20 minutes before your order arrives at the table. Fortunately, they do give you a complimentary dish of cornbread and butter to ease your hunger while you wait. I have visited this place several times since moving to Palm Coast in 2001 and have never been disappointed by the service nor the meal until now.

The first Friday in March of 2013, I invited a friend of mine to dinner at their new location. They had only recently relocated to SR100, not too far East from the intersection of US1 and I had visited them with other friends the month before and was delighted at their expanded menu offerings but stuck to my usual fried entrees instead. This visit, I was determined to try something else. There was a chill in the air that evening when we arrived shortly before 6pm. The restaurant had just been seated to capacity with only another couple ahead of us in the waiting list. We decided to wait it out since we were in no particular hurry and the fact that the locals were enmassed only fueled our expectations and desire. We figured that the wait would be worth it. As more and more parties arrived and entered their names on the waiting list it took nearly 45 minutes before, diners began vacating and those of us waiting could be seated. We were next on the list to be seated when the owner made a decision to favor a party of four who had arrived 10 minutes after us. Nearly an hour of waiting later ... we were finally seated and only because I approached the reception desk and asked if they suggest we leave and eat elsewhere instead. A gentleman, who neither identified himself or his position, volunteered to take it upon himself to personally tend to our seating and service.

We were seated in a two person booth and our drink orders taken. I wanted to try their chicken pot pie, my friend ordered the fried chicken liver dinner and asked the gentleman if we could order a couple of pieces of the fried chicken to sample and see what all the buzz was about their signature dish. He suggested we try the herb crusted honey roasted chicken instead. Both of us had never tried that before and so we agreed. He quickly disappeared into the kitchen before he could take the remainder of her order of sides. Fifteen minutes later we noticed that hot cornbread was being placed at every table where new patrons had just been seated. I commented to my friend that we hadn't been offered the same and luckily one of the servers overheard me and politely served us the same. It was then when we asked her to check on our orders since the gentleman had yet to reappear to complete her order of sides. She took my friends side orders and reassured us that our meal would be arriving shortly but that she would check with the kitchen to followup. Within a couple of minutes she returned to our table to confirm my friends orders. It seems that the gentleman had ordered a fried gizzard dinner for her and not the fried livers that she had requested. We reaffirmed her desire for the liver dinner. Fearing for more of a delay in getting our meal out I requested an appetizer of fried green tomatos rushed, just so that we could have something to tide us over while we waited. The server complied, then disappeared into the back. Finally, five minutes later our entrees arrived at our table together with the fried green tomatoes. It was only then that the gentleman reappeared to reassure us that the wait was worth it ... then commanded a hug from my very reluctant friend ... surprising her with an embrace ... commenting on how "cute she was" and how "she reminded him of his wife." He then disappeared for the rest of our stay into the back where the kitchen was.

Was the wait worth it?! Unequivocally ... NO. For the price of nearly ten dollars, the chicken pot pie seemed a bit undersized. Mostly, I was extremely disappointed by the lack of seasoning and flavor of the chicken pot pie. I can overlook the blackened spots on the baked pastry topping, but when I sampled my first bite ... I was greeted by the overpowering flavor of cooked onions ... then surprisingly everything else was quite bland. I was delighted to see that the pie was filled with a generous amount of chicken meat, but the gravy was a bit sparse as were the standard mix of vegetables one would expect to find with this dish. I would not be so critical about this if it had at least some flavor ... but adding salt only made it salty. My friend sampled the pie and concurred. We abandoned the dish and proceeded to try the herb crusted honey roasted chicken plate. Again, another major disappointment. We both noticed immediately an off flavor and the chicken seemed on the drier side. Whether the chicken was freezer burned, old or the seasoning had contributed to the flavor we couldn't say ... but after a couple of bites, that dish too was set aside. The mashed potatos and gravy as well as the dressing that accompanied it was, like the pot pie, equally lacking in flavor and remained largely untouched. Lucky for her that she orderd the fried chicken liver dinner. At least her dinning experience was not a total lost. I had to contend with the side salad with bleu cheese dressing that came with the chicken pot pie dinner and the cranberry sauce that came with the roasted chicken platter.

When a female server came to clear our table she asked us how we like our meal. Both my friend and I voiced our disappointment at two of the three dishes. We also took advantage of her presence to place two orders of the all dark 6 pc chicken special to go. I added another chicken liver dinner with my "to go" order as well. She asked for a box for what remained of hers. The server disappeared to place our orders and get a "to go" box but within minutes our table was visited by a rather irritated woman, the owner, who publicly voiced her disagreement with our assessment of the two dishes that we had left mostly unconsumed. I politely reassured her that she was entitled to her opinion as were we, when asked and requested that we agree to disagree. She must have assumed that we were trying to get out of paying, since she mentioned the degree of which the meals had erroneously assumed had been consumed. I had no trouble allaying her fears quickly and even reviewed the bill with her which was still showing the gizzard dinner error. We included the more recent "to go" orders and I settled the bill ... happy to have an end to the ordeal.

Would I come back? Off course. I may not have the desire to re-order the herb crusted roasted chicken or chicken pot pie in the near future again, but there is a reason locals have been patronizing this restaurant. Their signature fried meals are very good. I would however advice folks to avoid coming on Fridays during dinner time unless you arrive before 5:30p or after 7:30p.

As far as Southern style comfort food goes this place just about gets it right. They have good prices and the food rib sticking good! The only thing I am not fond of is the restaurant itself which has a grimy and stale feel to it, so hopefully when they move to their new location it will be much better.
