5th Element is the only Indian restaurant in Palm Coasts, so we are lucky it's a good one. I recommend a thali as it has a good variety of dishes and... read more!
Review of 5th Element by Paul from Palm Coast
We love Indian food and found 5th Element a hit and miss with its dishes. The pakora starter tasted like it had been refried a few times and tasted of little but the oil, and although the papadoms were light and crispy, the sauces were very unhygienic with the same ones and spoons used from a different customer's table which grossed us out. However, the Muligatawny Soup was delish and the Chicken 65 was very tasty and spicy. My husband had a Dal which had nice flavor but was too salty, and his Mixed Tandoor lived up to its name - mixed - some very good, some dry and tough. Service was OK and attentive with the delivery of dishes and cleaning the plates, etc., but not with drink refills, and no smiles or 'thank yous'. This was the only Indian restaurant we could find in Palm Coast so I guess they have no competition which may keep it from excelling.

I had the Paneer Tikka about a month ago and loved it, but ordered it again last night and it was like a completely different dish. Didn't have no where near the flavor it had before and was very disappointed. Husband had a curry dish and said his was quite good but wouldn't order it again. We were also not very happy with the service as we had to ask for everything. A larger table seemed to be getting all their attention. It felt like they were seriously cutting back and need to up their game for us to eat here again.

Buffet was good with a nice variety of dishes that all tasted very good. The chicken biriyani and an eggplant curry dish were my favorites. They had some good desserts as well. Service was very slow and not very attentive. It would have been nicer sitting outside if people weren't vaping.

I've had some amazing meals here but tonight was subpar! Everything had that 'raw' spice taste like the spices weren't cooked enough or put in the wrong time. Hoping this is a one off as I really enjoy it as a rule.

Came here about a month ago and the food was amazing but tonight it was completely different... I ordered the same dish of Tikka Paneer and it really wasn't very good. Maybe they have a different chef? Service not the greatest either. One more try in hopes of it being like my first visit. Otherwise I am done!

The food was really tasty but the service was hot and cold. One moment we had 2 or 3 servers attending to us and the next they disappeared for ages, this was the pattern throughout and there was only one other table occupied. The Vindaloo and the Tikka Paneer were both incredible and I really like Indian beer.
Highlight of visit: The Vindaloo was the star dish

The buffet selection was very good and everything I sampled was really tasty. The service could be more attentive and we noticed people around us getting things we weren't, and was told it was because we didn't ask for them, but no one offered or said we could... I guess you have to be in the know!! Also, not the restaurant's fault but the mess the other diners were making at the buffet was disgusting... some people are like animals!! Staff did clean quickly though but I could see they were annoyed. One person said it is much better to go for the Saturday buffet as the Sunday one is from the market crowd who always make a mess.

We went to try something new at European Village and ended up here. I was a little skeptical, but the wife loves Indian food.... so in we went!!
The people were exceptionally kind and understanding of my ignorance, and out of confused desperation I ordered Aloo Muttor which is peas and potatoes in a creamy curry sauce. We also got the Garlic Naan, and she got the Lamb Curry. She got medium heat, I got mild being afraid. First off, the food was mild spicy and the amount of flavors in the food was quite amazing! This was delicious! I tried her medium heat dish and it too was very tolerable and quite delectable. The Garlic Naan was also very tasty!
The entire experience was one of the best I have had in Flagler County. I'm sure it is largely because I sure wasn't expecting it. Talking with the proprietors, we found out about the buffet they have on the weekends....guess where we'll be eating this weekend!
I want to try ALL of it.
Highlight of visit: Everything about the place is worth going back again.

My wife and I had dinner here tonight and we had an excellent experience. Service was very good, with all staff pitching in, and the food was delicious. Everything tasted freshly prepared and came out hot and was very flavorful. The Vegetable Vindaloo and Tandoori Paneer Tikka were great dishes. We sat outside, and the fans kept a nice breeze going with a nice atmosphere from the European Village courtyard.

I continue to come here as I like their food and lunch today was no exception, with a delicious thali and aloo gobi, but their customer service keeps declining. Our server today was not very friendly, and he never checked on us once we had our food, and just stood in the corner watching TV. He bought us containers for leftovers but we were missing some lids, and he seemed pissed off he had to get them. No other Indian restaurant in Palm Coast so I guess we'll keep coming here for now.

Buffet today was excellent with some really delicious tasting dishes on it. I couldn't get enough of the tandoori chicken and they had a soup that was incredible. They need more staff but other than that it was 5 stars.

Good variety on the buffet and I liked most of everything I tasted. Service could have been better but the setting is nice. The mango ice cream is very good.

We had their buffet during market day and thought it had a very good selection of dishes, plus breads, desserts and condiments. Everything was delicious and tasted freshly made. The biggest disappointment was the lack of service. Once we were seated and given water we never had any service after that and had to ask for everything. It was difficult even to figure out to pay! They have great food here but the service is very disorganized and not attentive, if they can work that out it will be an excellent restaurant.

Dinner here was nice... service was very good and attentive but the staff look so serious and need to smile more. Large menu and is overwhelming if you're not familiar with Indian food but is a haven for vegetarian diners like me... we ordered a few dishes to share and enjoyed all especially the Saag Paneer which is one of my favorite dishes... and the Veg Vindaloo was delicious... the only let down was the Pakoras which were too heavily greased and had no taste... the Gulab Jamon dessert was a very sweet indulgent end to the meal.

Visited for the buffet today and the food was really good... many very tasty items and everything was fresh. The Chicken Tika and Fish Vindaloo were very good and I even liked the lentil and veg dishes. It's good being able to sample so many dishes I wouldn't normally order. I would have given this visit 5 stars but I deducted 1 star for the really bad service... it was as if we didn't exist to them and never got anything that we didn't get ourselves. We found this strange because when we went at nights the service was top notch.

Not the best Indian food with some highs and lows. Server wasn't very helpful and didn't really listen and had to request things more than once. The mixed veg pakora appetizer was over fried and had little taste, but the mulligatawny soup was excellent. The tandoori had a good flavor but was too salty, and the rice was not good. My wife's chicken 65 biryani was a superb dish. I guess you have to learn what's good and what's not here. Service really needs to improve though.

Sad to see this restaurant going downhill. The buffet today was not very good. Went for Mother's Day and we were very disappointed. Service was almost non existent. Had to ask for everything! We were seated and given placemats and empty glasses and that was it. Everything else we had to go and get or ask for including water and silverware! Many of the buffet items needed replenishing and some never were during our stay. And we were not there late but mid way through! They put stickers all over the glass so you can see the items behind it, so many people made a huge mess and it was never cleaned. There were no cups for soups, etc, or for dessert and no spoons! Apart from our first water that we had to find someone to give us, our glasses were never refilled, and we were never offered any other type of drinks. I wanted a beer but that was impossible. They did clean the table of empty plates often, but when I asked that guy for stuff he just ignored me. The food itself tasted OK but not close to how good it used to be here. Overall a huge disappointment and we will sadly not return, and go to their Jax location for much better food and definitely better service.

Not the best Indian food I've had but still quite good. In fact, the original 5th Element in Jacksonville has much better food but the atmosphere is far better in Palm Coast, so I wish they could combine the two. I find the dishes are not consistent here so I guess it depends on who's cooking that day. Always had good service and the buffet on weekends is good value if you arrive hungry. Indian beer is very good and goes well if you ordered spicy.

Something has changed here! Although the food is still quite tasty it just doesn't taste the same as it used to. My usual dishes are different and I preferred how they used to be. Rice is terrible! Not how good Indian rice should be. The pakoras were greasy and rock hard. Also the service is much more business like and no longer as friendly. I miss my old 5th Element 😢

We visited during the Farmer's Market for their buffet today. It was quite busy and they needed more staff as it was very hard to get service when needed. There was also a long line to pay and I wish I could pay at the table like most places. The food had some very good dishes on the buffet and a couple of duds, especially a mixed veg dish where the cauliflower was so hard it was difficult to chew. They had an eggplant dish that was delicious and my favorite. Their rice is not good. No offer of drinks other than water, although they did have chai on the buffet, but I would have liked a beer. Overall a good feed for $15 but the service needs work and a couple of dishes shouldn't have been offered.
