Perkins has seen its better days. The one in Palm Coast has a tired feel to it and the lack of customers shows that it is in decline. In a way, it is a shame because the waitress we had was wonderful and helpful and the food is still the typical diner fare one would expect. But the atmosphere is quite poor and has been for quite some time. The smell of mold is quite strong and the carpeting is suffering great wear and tear.

When Perkins first opened in Palm Coast, the restaurant was booming. Now one must wonder how much longer they can keep their doors open. A complete renovation is dire at this point.

My wife and I decided to go and have breakfast this morning at Perkins in Palm Coast, Florida. I must say we were very disappointed, walked out, and will never go back there again. After we were seated, we waited about 12 minutes to get our drinks which consisted of Ice tea and Orange Juice. Waited another 15 minutes to have our breakfast order taken, which was steak and eggs with Pancakes and Farmers Ham and Eggs with Pancakes. The Place was not that busy. Good Job I am not Gordon Ramsey. I got my Ham and eggs with Pubic Hair Pancakes and my wife got some omelet dish. When we brought this to the waitresses attention she seemed to have an unpleasant attitude. Maybe Perkins should go on the Kitchen Nightmares Show to get there act together. Don't waste your time or Money at this establishment because, there are Far better restaurants in Palm Coast Florida. We will never go back there again.

We decided to go here for breakfast this morning. We were early so were seated straight away. Servers were friendly and although not overly attentive, we got all we needed. The food was good and eggs cooked as requested. Toast had about a square inch of butter in the middle. The one thing letting this place down though is its condition. It just has a rankness about it that seems to permeate both the atmosphere and food. A good cleaning and painting would greatly improve this restaurant.

Place always has an awful smell to it, like a dirty old wash cloth, tables are gross, bathrooms, are terrible... service is the worst ever, nasty waitress chews her gum like a cow... place needs to be shut down cleaned up and hire new people.

Went for breakfast on Christmas day and was quite impressed with the service and food. Although busy, we expected slow service and long waits for food, but service was swift and the food came out quickly and well cooked. All staff were very friendly and in good spirits although having to work on Christmas day.

Definitely an improvement over our last visit about a year ago. Atmosphere is still kind of rank but the food was much better. We went for breakfast and everything including the eggs were cooked the way we like. Server was nice but she seemed stretched and would disappear for a long time. Prices are about right and the muffins we got to take home were yummy.

Stopped in last night approximately 6 pm for dinner. Noticed immediately a negative "smell" inside. Asked employee what smell was... was told that carpet is due to be cleaned soon? Quick look confirmed terrible dirtiness of carpet...did an about face and left. This place needs complete overall... fast.

We had breakfast here this morning. Arrived about 9 am and were quickly seated but it soon became very busy which slowed service. But the food was very good. Prices reasonable and portions plentiful. Smelt a little stale in there.

This restaurant was starting to get better but it seems to be slipping again. Not as clean as it was, service slow and food a little sloppy. My last breakfast there looked like everything was just thrown on the plate. Had to keep looking for the server who was rarely in sight. Hope this was an off day!

My wife and I enjoy breakfast at Perkins every week. Service can be spotty but the food is always consistent. Serving sizes are generous and we really like their muffins.

The food has definitely improved since last visit. Went for breakfast on Monday and everything was cooked just right. Eggs were perfect. Service was slow though and our server disappeared for long periods. It seemed much cleaner too.

I stopped visiting this Perkins after I saw it going down hill with each each visit. It's been about 10 months since I last went and a business associate invited for a breakfast meeting this week, and I was surprised to see it had improved. It seemed cleaner and my food was hot and fresh. Server seemed a little stretched but overall much better than it was on my last visit. Hopefully they're finally getting this place back up to scratch.

I'm really hoping this restaurant gets back on its feet again. Somehow it's managed to fall into quite a sorry state and I miss what it used to be. My last visit will be my final until I hear of improvements. The food was average and the service not very good. It feels very stale in there which provides and unappetizing atmosphere.

Perkins has always been my favorite restaurant, the food is usually delicious, however today when a friend & I went there, we thought our order had been forgotten since we sat for quite awhile waiting. After flagging down a waitress they said they had a large party come in, but she said they had all been served now, so we should be getting our food shortly. I'm glad we weren't in a hurry or had to get back to work. Also, when we walked in, the restaurant smelled very musty or mildewy, not sure if they've had a water problem that wasn't corrected properly, or maybe the carpet smells, not sure what but not a pleasant smell. It seems like the place has deteriorated in the last year or so, maybe from the bad economy or management, it just seems dreary there now for some reason??? Food was good and was hot ....when it finally came.

Worst Perkins I have been to. Ate there this week. Ordered the sirloin steak for myself and my son. His was OK, a bit tough as expected. But mine was unreal. I could squish it with my fork and spread it with my knife like pate! What could make meat get like this?? It disintegrated in my mouth like sand. The manager got me another steak, supposed to be medium, but was very rare. I ate the edges and the fresh potato I asked for. They gave us free desserts. At the table next to us, the man sent back his eggs as undercooked. The woman asked for a sticky bun (all out), cinnamon roll (all out) and finally got a muffin. I heard a customer tell the manager that the ladies room was a big mess (was OK by the time I got there). The waiter never refilled our water. I ate there with a companion a couple of weeks ago, had the fish and chips early bird special. All was very greasy. I don't think I'll be back.

Absolutely disgusting! Never Again. I have never been a fan of the Palm Coast Perkins, but my family enjoys going for breakfast during dinner once in a while. This past evening we went only to find the restaurant to be at its all time worst! Only six tables were occupied, but all the empty ones still had dirty dishes, empty glasses, used napkins and garbage all around them. No one was busing tables or setting them up. The floors looked like they hadn't been swept or vacuumed in days. The menus had stuck on food in between the pages. The tabletops were sticky and not set up. The servers ignored us until I glared one down. The restrooms were unusable. My youngest left the men's room because it was so nasty and asked me to take him in the women's. We could not use any of the overflowing stalls and had to leave because of the smell. The garbage can in the foyer area of the restrooms was overflowing into the dining room. The front entrance tile area was filthy. The food was the worst part of the whole experience.

How can a restaurant operate under these conditions? Their menu prices should easily cover the cost of a VACUUM and Windex! As for the Manager on Duty, Jennifer, shame on you for allowing these type of conditions. As I mentioned to her, there were ample staff standing around the cash register, including her that could have cleaned the place up. Even after I mentioned some of the disgusting items listed above, she still did not have anyone clean up and all she had to say was, "I'm sorry you had a bad experience." ME TOO!

Visited on 9/26/08, party of two. We both ordered the prime rib special available on Friday night. It was truly excellent and done just the way we ordered and as tender as it could be. A great meal for the price plus a 20% discount from the newspaper. Couldn't ask for more.

Have been going to Perkins regularly since moving to Palm Coast 6 years ago, food always good and cooked they way I ordered, muffins are great, pie crust not so good, éclairs are big enough to share! The French fries are great,I ask for honey mustard to dunk them instead of catsup and am not charged extra for it as in other eateries. The only reason I haven't been there these past several weeks is that when last there, there was an awful odor, the carpets smelled like a wet, greasy dog... I will call ahead to make sure they have been cleaned before going again. The service has always been fine & friendly and I have been taken care of at the register quickly.

For us, Perkins is strictly for breakfast, which is excellent. SUPERB pancakes, terrific breakfast potatoes, a great omelet for my wife who is picky about her omelets, a pot of good coffee, prompt and usually friendly service...happiness. Less so at night, which was only one visit for us. Which is understandable; from their website, Perkins began as a mom-and-pop pancake house in Ohio 50 years ago. And I don't know why they are so reluctant to take your money, other than whoever is working the cash register might be doing extra duty in the kitchen. I could have walked out and nobody would have noticed. If you are honest and play the trumpet bring it with you blow it at the checkout counter to facilitate departure.
