What a great time. I have found the BEST! Ask for Betty if her section is open sit with her you will have GREAT service. Sit anywhere inside or out and you will have GREAT food but I tell you to be sure to start with the Chicken Tenders any style they are the best ever.

I loved the dirty rice for an appetizer! Very spicy, just my style! The dinner was good but not great. The service was excellent!! I think I'll go back just for the dirty rice!

Talk about overrated! My wife had crab salad sandwich...mediocre...but great French fries! I had the pot roast dinner...fair. Might as well microwaved a box of Tyson's. Big fuss made by server (who was terrific) about BJ's baked potato... it arrived undercooked and tasteless. Booths were poorly designed as someone thought it would be decorative to have the backs hard as a rock and perfectly vertical. The view: cars passing on the bridge. Our impression is that BJ's serves large portions at relatively cheap prices for the senior crowd. The European Village is falling like a stone in a vacuum as an overpriced, over-hyped gimmick in an ugly location. Restaurants closing, allegedly high-end retail shops displaying clothes racks out front. BJ's will likely survive with their pricing but we'll pass.

We are snowbirds who visited Palm Coast this past January. We have small children so we wanted to order in one night. So, we ordered a seafood sampler that had fried fish, coconut shrimp and crab cakes, and my husband had the pork chops. The food was excellent and included many great sides and delicious breads. Would highly recommend.

Just had the crab cakes and they were the best, all crab and only enough filler to hold them together. Will definitely have them again.

I'm sorry but I thought I would respond to the negative reviews on here. Barbara Jeans food is excellent. I don't think the crab cakes are "small" or are they served in puddles. The portions are quite large and there is never any room for the yummy desserts they have. As far as the rest of the menu goes the food is delicious. I eat there once a week and always try something new. I have not had a disappointing meal there yet. As for the servers, they are extremely friendly and know the menu items well. There is always someone at the door to greet you when you arrive and when you leave there is someone there to say, "Thank you and please come again." If anyone has been there before knows that the Manager/Owner, Chris, is a very outgoing and friendly young man who is always out to do his best to make your dining experience the best it can be, and if it's not, then he will do his best to fix it. As do all the rest of the managers there as well. I'm disappointed that these people gave this restaurant such a bad review because it is truly one of the best we have here in Palm Coast.

I have to eat at Barbara Jean's at least once a week. If I'm with someone who asks where we should go for lunch, I always suggest Barbara Jean's. My women's group had their Spring luncheon there. The food is great. The decor and ambiance reminds you of a really Southern place. The staff treat you like family.

I've been eating at Barbara Jean's for the past year and have always been happy with the staff and the food. I love the pumpkin and jalapeno corn bread. I'm not a gourmet, but I know what I like, and I like Barbara Jean's.

We had dinner last night and the service was great. The bartender, Nate, was friendly and keep our drinks full. Our waitress was friendly and knew the menu every well. I had the catfish which was very fresh. Anna, the manager, checked on us several times. I would recommend this place any time.

The crab cakes were little tan puddles; little filler but even less crab. My wife's upgrade salad appeared to be ok and she said it tasted alright but our vegetables were cold and salty. Speaking of salty, we have never tasted anything quite like this. It was so bad we called the waitress over and asked if there was some mistake with our food, as in, did the cook put too much salt in the food or should it be too much food in the salt? She said no, that was the way they did it at Barbara Jean's. She offered to have the owner speak to us and he said that was the way they cooked there, with lots of salt. I asked him about the runny tasteless crabcakes and the origin of the crab. He said the crab came from Indonesia or "where ever he could get it cheapest". He also said he didn't care if we liked it or not. He's less than a gracious host. Overall the experience was not as advertised on Barbara Jean's website; "We take great pride in what we do and know that the most important visit we get from you, our customers, is the next one, and we have to earn that today!" It was more like southern hostility than southern hospitality! If you go, avoid the crabcakes and the vegetables. What's left? Maybe that hospitality? Enjoy.

Family and I went last night. This was my third visit and I am still not impressed. Last time I had the She Crab soup which was cool and full of small bits of crab shell (uck). This time less crab shell, but they're still serving this soup thick, gloppy and lukewarm which is a shame because it could be an excellent soup! As always, the breads are wonderful, hot, flavorful and plentiful, almost a meal unto themselves. We had a crab cake for an appetizer, MUCH improved since I was last here and it was piping hot and delicious. I had fried fish and shrimp - the fish was ok, a nice thick cut, which I liked. The shrimp were limp, warm and drowned in cooking oil, the breading was hard, and they appeared to be flattened after being butterflied. For a seafood restaurant, this was AWFUL, and I was very disappointed. The marmalade is nasty, but the tartar sauce is the best I've had in a long time. I see the waitresses still have 'attitude', although much less so on this visit.

As seafood restaurants go, although ok, this is nothing special, there are far better seafood places right here in Palm Coast, and certainly others not far from here. I don't get the hype either. And the woman's bathroom's location is just creepy! One accidental bump, and the whole restaurant sees everything.

Dinner last night for six people. Service was very good, all courses were served correctly and timely. Only issue - ALL courses (soup, dinners) were just "warm." Warm soup, warm entrees? What is so difficult in serving hot dinners? Not the first time at this place and definitely not the first time here in Palm Coast. Other than that, restaurant was O.K.

I went into Barbara Jeans on Sunday and had a GREAT experience. The food was outstanding. I haven't been able to find good Southern cooking in a long time. The chain restaurants seem to be the same to me. I ordered the Pot Roast and my husband had the Meatloaf with Tomato Sauce. My husband got a little upset with me because I kept stealing some of his food. Both of the Entrees were out of this world! They also served us fresh bread. They pumkin spice bread was delicious. I took some home with me for breakfast the next morning :) To top it off, the service was good and the price was just right. Thanks Barbara Jeans. You are my new favorite restaurant. I will be back soon!

My husband and I were in the restaurant last week at European Village Resort. It is not an upscale dining experience but a nice family restaurant with very good food at reasonable prices, a pleasant atmosphere, and great service. We were eating light so we had the she-crab soup, which was delicious, thick, and seasoned to be slightly spicy hot. We stop there and eat whenever we travel down that way. Their crab cakes are great with little or no filler. Pot roast, chicken fried chicken, and burgers are also highly recommended. The bartender mixes great drinks.

"If you don't try anything else, try the crab cakes!" Okay, so I did. I had crab pudding. The cake was not done, and full of filler and not much crab. Very disappointing.

On a Monday night at approximately 8 PM, my husband and I came in to eat. We waited at the hostess station for 10 minutes without even the slightest acknowledgement. They weren't even busy so we walked out.

A filling and enjoyable dinner. They have great pumpkin bread, yum, yum!! It was even hot like it was just baked!!

It somewhat reminds me of a deli atmosphere but very comfortable. Service was good and friendly. Mom ordered the turkey dinner which she enjoyed. My daughter got the chicken tenders which she raved about but later started picking off the breading (just a little over breaded but good chicken).

I had the crab cakes which they're known for and they didn't disappoint. I ordered 2 but could have gotten away with one as they were rather filling but lots of crabmeat and very little filler. I also had the broccoli and rice casserole which my daughter ate most of. It was delicious but since I was getting full I let her have a lot of it.

Considering we were going to go elsewhere in the European Village that had a 1 hr wait I'm glad we decided on Barbara Jeans. It was a nice experience.

I have been to this place a total of four times since the later part of January for lunch. The food has been excellent each time. Also the service has been great as well! I really could not ask for it to be any better. I read below that some people say the portions are too small... I don't think so! I go with usually four people or so and most of us end up taking home a "doggy bag". If you want big portions than go to a buffet and pig out.

Yes, the place is somewhat small, however I think they made the best of the space to make it seem bigger with the different sections and if you have been in any of the other restaurants in the European Village they have a smaller feel than this one.

I really don't understand all the hype about this place...its tiny ...and so are the portions. The crab cakes are ok... the "she crab" soup was good but nothing special. I liked the different breads that were served (good baking). The service was quite slow but we will try it again.
