From the outside I thought this would be a cool retro style diner but once you're inside it's just dated and dull and kind of felt like a biker hangout more than a family eatery. I visited for lunch and the menu is exactly what you'd expect of a greasy spoon and I ordered a BLT which was actually OK but the coffee was awful so I switched to a soda. My friend had a burger as it's claimed to be the best in the county, but I believe he felt he'd had better in many places in the county although he said it wasn't bad. Food presentation was messy and did not look appealing. The one bright part though was the server who was a delight and very friendly. This may be the kind of food for some but without sounding pretentious, it's just not something I could really eat again.

Breakfast all day! Enormous number of choices and combos all fresh and individually made to order. Same for lunch... fresh made daily soup and love the turkey wrap. The staff is very attentive yet gives you space. Highly recommended.

Went there for breakfast. I love diners like the ones up north. They have the real home fries from real potato's. Coffee was good and the eggs were made pretty good but I had their new sausage links and they were great. It cost a little more but worth it. All in all I had a great breakfast will go back for more.

We ate at the Sate Street Diner twice this week and definitely will be back! Wednesday night we had their N.Y. Strip Steak dinner (all you can eat for $11.00). The steak was so tender, a steak knife was not needed, very tasty and cooked to perfection. The steak comes with a baked potato and salad.
Tonight we were drawn to the a.y.c.e. haddock. My husband ordered his fried, I ordered mine broiled. What a delicious, non-fishy fish! The fish was cooked perfectly. The dinner comes with french fries and coleslaw. Again, $11.00 for all you can eat. Delicious!

Both times service was excellent. Cannot wait to try other menu items!

Totally remodeled inside. Bathrooms are very clean. Liked the new menu. Daily special was very tasty - inventive sauces. No processed meats. Fresh baked turkey used for all sandwiches. Cold slaw and potato salad made fresh from scratch. Staff is warm and welcoming. Flagler's best kept secret.

My wife and I stopped here for breakfast the other day. We both had the impression that some of the customers were "regulars," but we were treated just as kindly. What we received was decent diner food and service with a smile. The atmosphere is warm and downright quaint. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and atmosphere and will definitely be back.

My wife and I had lunch today, and I could not believe how many shrimp there were on my salad, my lunch was great and the price was very reasonable. We had a very nice server, who was there when we needed her, they did not rush us. The rest rooms were very clean and pleasant. It was the second time we were there this month the first time we had breakfast and that's was what got us back for lunch. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant.

My husband and I attempted to have breakfast here on last Sunday. When we arrived the restaurant was less than half full, we were told to sit anywhere and a waitress would be right with us. Well we waited over ten minutes for acknowledgment and were never even brought menus. When we walked out we walked by a waitress and the cashier/manager(???) and we not even acknowledged then. We will not be returning.

I am so sorry that I have to give this restaurant a less than stellar review. However, I was there recently and discovered they'd hired a new manager to whip this place into shape and bring in more customers. Well, the changes are ridiculous. No more mashed potatoes, no macaroni and cheese, no baked potatoes until after 4:00, at 3:00 p.m. "running out" of the only decent potato choice available, which was sweet potato fries....The excuse they gave for not having mashed potatoes was they might have to throw some away because they don't have enough people to order what they whip up. So? I have no idea why they ran out of fries.....make more then. They also "ran out" of coffee the same day and people had to wait for a new pot to be made. It's a diner, folks!! Coffee, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese are staples. A staff member told me that many people ask for the mashed potatoes and they have to relate this silly excuse to them. All the bakery products are Sara Lee cooked straight from the box. There was no usual carrot cake that day, because the weekend was coming up and they didn't want to bring it out into the case because they needed to save it for the weekend. Unbelievable. This is no way to bring in customers, believe me. This was my second visit within the last month. On the first one, I didn't have any reason to know about the above information; however, both times there was a BIG problem at the register, with a complicated (at least for them) computerized system that nobody seems to get the hang of. Everyone can use the register and does. All they need is what most diners need: a cashier...how hard is that? Sorry, because I had high hopes for this place to live up to its new decor.

I think they do a good job here and they definitely to make sure everyone is happy. It's mostly standard diner type food on the menu plus some Greek influenced items. All I've had were good and the service was attentive. The decor is nice and clean with some motorcycle art on the wall.

We had our mom's birthday dinner at this restaurant the other evening. Food was excellent, Service was outstanding. They are in the process of adopting a new menu and we were able to order some of the new dishes and as I said the food was excellent. The new chef, Bob, introduced himself at our table to make sure we were satisfied with the preparations. Jow and Barbara, the owners were there and they also made sure that we had everything that we wanted. This restaurant has come a long way, the food is always fresh and delicious and the atmosphere is always homey and friendly. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Tried State Street Grill this morning for the first time. So glad we did. I had an omelet "with everything". So good! My sister had the Country Steak and gravy with eggs, biscuit and grits. She loved it also. Our waitress "Doris" was a hoot . Really friendly and attentive. This won't be our last visit! Sure will pass the word in Chattanooga, TN when we get home.

My wife and I are part of a group that goes for breakfast after church services on Sundays. We usually wind up going to the State Street Diner simply because there is no place better than the Diner. The food is great, the service is friendly and quick, and everything about Joe and Barb's place is fabulous. We've come back for dinner in the evenings, we have brought our grandchildren with us and we all love the Diner.

My husband and I try to stop in here whenever we can. The food has always been good and the service very friendly. State Street also catered our wedding in 2008 and we got so many compliments on the food (eggplant parmesan, fettuccine alfredo and lasagna). The owners, Joe and Barbara, were such a pleasure to work with. We have very fond memories.

Have not been in for quite some time. My wife and I stopped in to have breakfast. Joe, the owner was there as usual as was Barbara, his wife. The service was so quick that it was almost unbelievable. The breakfasts that we ordered were great. The other patrons in the restaurant was very nice and we all were involved in a conversation which made the place feel very "old-home." I really recommend this "diamond in the rough."

In today's economy, it's nice to have a place to eat that serves fresh, good food for a reasonable price. The meatloaf was tasty, the broccoli cooked perfectly and the service was very friendly and did I mention the reasonable price? We enjoyed our dinner very much!

My wife and I decided to try this restaurant for a Sunday breakfast. From the outside it didn't truly impress us but the interior was very clean and looked like it was recently remodeled. Breakfast was great. We both enjoyed the breakfast wraps which were so large we each took half of it home. We also enjoyed a biscuit and the coffee. Service was very attentive and pleasant. Will definitely go again for their daily specials which looked wonderful. Prices were good.

Stopped in on 2/05/09 for breakfast with my wife and her Mom. Had a very good, healthy and excellent cocked breakfast. Waitress, Kathy was excellent as usual. Joe, the owner was as personable as he always is. Restaurant was fairly busy. You should try this establishment, you won't be dissatisfied.

This restaurant is attractive and very clean. We found the food average but the server way below par. She was rude, ignored us for the most part and never asked us if we wanted refills on the drinks. Our dishes were slammed down on the table and needless to say we did not leave a tip. There are too many good restaurants in this area to be subjected to this type of treatment.
